Midwife, Doula, General Badass

My name is Brandy Harris and I live in N. OKC with my spouse Terry and our 4 children, Dryden, Tanner, Dash & Everly.  I have been a life-long lover of pregnancy, birth and babies. In my early 20s through my own efforts of starting a family, I began a more deliberate search for diverse choices in the birthing community.

I began doing unofficial Doula work in 2003 for friends, family and acquaintances (before I knew what a Doula was).  I quickly became what is now known as a “birth junky.”

The act of supporting families through the most intimate experiences of their lives came easy for me, brought me great joy and filled me to the core of my being. I understood the draw I felt in my spirit from such a young age as my purpose; my calling being revealed and it was easy for me to choose to continue to grow in that in spite of my own fertility struggles.

In 2008, I trained to become a Certified Birth Doula through DONA International, became a Certified Breastfeeding Educator and since have supported over 400 families in Oklahoma.

In November of 2009, I experienced the birth of my boys. With the help of our own Birth Doula, Midwife and HypnoBirthing® techniques, I had both a challenging yet rewarding unmedicated, vaginal hospital birth.

In March of 2016, I experienced a very rewarding and healing home-birth of my son and daughter with the help of Midwives, Birth Assistants, Doulas and close friends. I feel that my birth experiences has given me a gift in being able to support families through both the beautiful and the challenging moments that occur during their births.

In September 2011, I became a certified HypnoBirthing® Educator. My goal is to add to the choices in childbirth education options in the community and to help families experience gentle, fear free, family-centered birthing with or without intervention, in a home or hospital environment.

In compliment to my continuing education, January 2014, I began working with Moments Of Bliss Midwifery as a Midwife Assistant and began my formal education with Birth Arts International after being accepted into the Midwife Assistant/Monitrice Program.

In 2015, I was accepted in to the Midwifery program at Midwives College of Utah where I plan to graduate in 2018.
